JOURNEY NORTH Journey North engages students in a global study of wildlife migration and seasonal change including the Gray whale and its migration. 2007 STANFORD WHALE STUDY A newly published study suggests gray whales may not have fully recovered from whaling because the size gap between historic and current populations is larger than previously estimated. Read NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC article on this new study. WORLD HERITAGE SITES UNESCO declared the "Whale Sanctuary of El Vizcaino" as a World Heritage site in 1993. BAJA CAVE PAINTING LINKSARCHAEOLOGICAL SOCIETY OF AMERICA Although written in 1998, this is an excellent background article from the Archaeological Society of America. THE GETTY CONSERVATION Also written in the mid-90's, this is an article about how best to conserve and regulate Baja's cave paintings. Our expert guide, Elaine Moore was the Representative of Foreign Tourism Operators for this Getty discussion. WORLD HERITAGE SITES UNESCO declared the "Rock Paintings of the Sierra de San Francisco" as a World Heritage site in 1993. This link has many other links that describe the cave paintings, as UNESCO stated, "...this an impressive testimony to a unique artistic tradition." BRADSHAW FOUNDATION This page covers two of the most important Rock Art sites in North America, the Baja Peninsula and the Coso Range. His book is a MUST read for anyone who has an interest in the cave painting in Baja California.
